John Hunter MBACP

John has focused his time on developing leaders, primarily across the Healthcare Sector, over the last 20 years. He is a Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) Associate trainer, British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Coach and Counsellor together with being a proud ICCS qualified Coach Supervisor.

Until recently he specialised in National leadership programmes, Talent management and was a national Coaching Lead for Senior Managers and Clinicians, in the NHS, aiming at stepping up to Board-level. His last project was to form and run the Clinical Leadership Coaching and Advisory Service, bringing together and supervising some 200+ Coaches across the NHS utilising Public and Private Sector coaches. John also spent time helping leaders and organisations set-up and tailor their own leadership development and coaching solutions and is an advocate for regular networking.

Career Background:

After 10 years with the Ministry of Defence, 10 years with the Department for Work and Pensions and almost 20 years with the NHS John has a proven track record in people development, marketing, communications, procurement and contracting and also British Embassy liaison.

When John joined the NHS, with the Appointments Commission in 2003, he started as a Regional Training Facilitator, and within a year had become Head of NHS Training and Development. Across all roles he has been responsible for developing, organising and supervising the training, development and coaching programmes for senior leaders at regional and national level.

Outside of the NHS he runs a small Counselling and Psychotherapy practice where he integrates Coaching approaches wherever needed. Last year he was included in LinkedIn’s Top 20 coaches in Leeds https://influencedigest.com/coaching/top-coaches-leeds-2022/

John works to the Ethical Framework of the BACP for all of his practice, has regular Supervision and firmly believes that supporting and developing people, particularly around their self-awareness, leads to increased understanding and compassion for the self and others.
